Small Business Lunch at Halls
Small Business Lunch at Halls is pleased to present Doug Wojcik, the new Men's Head Basketball Coach for the College of Charleston Cougars as our distinguished speaker, Thursday, October 4th.
Doug Wojcik was named the 22nd coach at The College of in April replacing the retired Bobby Cremins (2006-12). College Sports Madness said: "In Charleston Wojcik steps into a good situation where he has the talent to have success right away. Charleston has a talented roster and will be right in the mix, yet again, for a Southern Conference title."
He came to the Cougs after seven seasons at the University of Tulsa where he became the all-time winningest head coach in program history with 140 career victories, surpassing legendary coaches Clarence Iba (137) and Nolan Richardson (119). He held a career winning percentage of 60 percent and an average of 20 wins per season with the Golden Hurricane.
During his collegiate playing career at the U.S. Naval Academy from 1983-86, Wojcik led the Midshipmen to the NCAA Tournament three straight seasons including a 1986 East Regional Final appearance. He started every game at point guard for three seasons, helping Navy post a 26-6 record as a sophomore, followed by marks of 30-5 and 26-6 in his final two seasons. Overall, Navy was 82-17 in his three years as a starter.
In seven years with the Golden Hurricane, Wojcik took a nine-win squad before his arrival and posted four consecutive 20-win seasons including back-to-back 25+ win campaigns, advanced to the championship game of the Conference USA Tournament in 2008 and 2009, won the inaugural College Basketball Invitational title in 2008 in his third season and appeared in the NIT twice in 2009 and 2010.
Each month, Small Business Lunch at Halls features a distinguished speaker from the business, civic or political arenas upstairs at Halls Chophouse with imaginative mid-day cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Niessner.
Tickets are $28 per person for the luncheon and parking. Doors open at 11:30 AM. Limited seating of 60 participants provides an intimate experience with each speaker.
Halls Chophouse is located at 434 King Street in downtown Charleston. Parking, validated at the event, is available at the Visitors Center Garage on Ann Street between King and Meeting Streets.
