Merrimans' Playhouse Jazz Performance Series presents Lucas Kadish Tundra 4tet!
Lucas Kadish Tundra 4tet is an exciting young quartet based in NYC. With a focus on original material, they play a wide range of jazz, blues, and freely improvised music. Featuring Lucas Kadish on guitar, Nick Dunston on bass, Connor Parks on drums, and Theo Walentiny on piano.
21-year-young jazz guitarist, Lucas Kadish, was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. There he spent his formative years discovering a deep love for many types of music. In his late teens he began studying and playing with Theron Brown, Dan Wilson, Bobby Selvaggio, and many other staples of the scene. By graduation he had already been named a National YoungArts finalist and a semi-finalist in the United States Presidential Scholars of the Arts for jazz guitar. He was admitted to The New School for Jazz on the Presidents Scholarship and moved to NYC. In his first year of college, Lucas was selected for the prestigious international Betty Carters Jazz Ahead Residency for composition.
Composer and bassist Nick Dunston has been gigging in the New York music scene, as well as venues in Germany and Switzerland. He currently attends The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, with studies in jazz performance and classical composition.
Connor Parks began learning the guitar and Classical Percussion before falling in love with the drums. He studied at the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music. Upon arriving in New York City, Connor has grown to be a highly in-demand artist playing with countless peers.
Theo Walentiny began with a classical background and developed an interest in jazz/improvised music around the age of 12. Since then he's been involved in programs such as NJPAC's Wachovia Jazz for Teens and Jazz House Kids among others. Currently he is studying at The New School and in his own time he leads an octet and a trio performing original compositions.
