Barrett draws on a wide range of influenceseverything from Pink Floyd and Radiohead to Neil Young and Aimee Mann. Anthem-like crescendos, sudden changes in time signature, and well-honed lyrics don't take away from Barrett's main mission as a songwriter: providing a song one can sing along to. Abbie Barrett and her band have been featured regularly on WXRV The River's "Homegrown" program, and in American Songwriter and Performing Songwriter magazines. In 2008, the International Acoustic Music Awards gave Barrett runner-up in the category of Best Female Artist. Her band recently made the top 10 in The Deli Magazine's "Best New England Emerging Artists" readers' poll.
