Ojai Film Society and Ojai Art Center Present: The Last King
The year 1206 finds Norway embroiled in a brutal civil war between those loyal to King Magnus V and the opposing rebels, the Birkebeinerne, loyal to King Haakon. When King Haakon is assassinated, his infant son is carried off by two of the famous Birkebeiners, Skjervald and Torstein, who intend to protect the heir to the throne even to their deaths. Against a sweeping wintry backdrop, the chase to catch the twoand their precious cargounfolds across the snow-cloaked, forested mountains of Norway, with breathtaking images of horseback swordplay and desperate escapes on skis.
