A Man Called Ove

Based on the beloved book by Swedish writer Fredrik Backman, this endearing film blends humor, pathos and a certain sense of serendipity. Ove, an aging and childless widower, gets through his lonely days by trying to enforce the nit-picky rules of his townhouse neighborhood and making repeated attempts on his own life, in hopes of reuniting with his buried wife. When a young family moves in next door, the relationship that blooms over the apparent disaster of a flattened mailbox guides Ove toward the healing that he craves. A Man Called Ove was Swedens submission to the foreign language category of the 2016 Academy Awards.
