Sammy Miller & The Congregation
Sammy Miller & the Congregation led by drummer Miller are devoted to what they self-describe as joyful jazz music that feels good. Grammy-nominated Juilliard graduate and California native son, Miller is an undeniably energetic leader of this rambunctious live ensemble, that engages the crowd just as much as the musicians engage in spontaneous musical conversation on the bandstand. Having performed at venues from Jazz at Lincoln Center to the White House and the Hollywood Bowl, this group has banded together with a spirit of joyful unity, complete with exciting arrangements, fiery playing and crowd-pleasing set lists featuring plenty of inspired, left-field detours. On a mission to put the generosity back into jazz and bring art back to the people, Miller and Co. are on well on their way to achieving their musical goal.
