8:30 doors / 9:00 show
In a rare public performance, Richie Parsons, veteran lead singer of Unnatural Axe, Future Dads, Band 19, The Gremies (famous for the picture sleeve for "No Surfin' In Dorchester Bay" appears tonight with special guests Eric Martin (Neats) and Steve Morell (Neats Del Fuegos)
Parsons is far from a stranger to Boston rock. The singer-guitarist been in more bands than you can shake a stick at, dating back to the semi-fabled Unnatural Axe (They Saved Hitlers Brain if you own a copy, you have big bucks awaiting you on eBay) but as he talks about in the interview that follows, his songwriting/recording stalled in the mid-00s and other priorities (health, family) kicked in. Hes back now. Not a young punk anymore and with some different ideas about how to rock us and what matters. Jim Sullivan
Ken Stringfellow, who produced Richie's latest work writes, "Richie Parsons at times reminds me of the best heartfelt moments of Paul Westerberg, those heart-on-the-sleeve moments that belied his allegiance to the nihilism of vintage punk. Richie comes from the class of '77, but his record collection is big and wide enough to allow him to absorb all the tropes of great songwriting over the ages."
Eric Martin is perhaps best known for his work with the seminal rock band The Neats. The singer songwriter and guitarist has continued to play in various forms since those heart days and tonight joins with drummer Steve Morell, the original drummer in The Del Fuegos.
