Songs of the Season | Festive Flutes
The next Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra concert in Los Angeles, "Songs of the Season - Festive Flutes", will be held on Sunday, December 4th at 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, 7304 Jordan Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303. Charles Fernandez, composer and maestro, will lead Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra in Ukranian Bell carol arr. Alexandra Molnar-Suhajda, Hannukkah Flutes by Michael Kibbe, Benedictus by Saint Saens, Christmas Collage by Charles Fernandez, and Parade of the Wooden Soldiers arr. Adrian Brett.

The second half of the program will begin with the Greensleeves arr. By Bjorn Martin, Waltz by Goddard, Amazing Grace arranged by James Walker, The Nutcracker Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky including the Miniature Overture, March, Danse of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Arab Danse, Chinese Danse and Danse of the Mirlitons and followed by the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah arr. By Robert Maddox.

David Shostac, Principal Flute of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, will perform as solo flutist in  Saint Saens Benedictus, Amazing Grace arranged by James Walker and Waltz by Benjamin Goddard accompanied by the Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra. An alumnus of Juilliard and Tanglewood and recipient of two Rockefeller performance grants, David is also a relative of the great Russian composer, Dmitri Shostakovich. A former member of the American Symphony Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski, Shostac also performed with the Boston Symphony (Seiji Ozawa, Erich Leinsdorf and Eugene Ormandy) and LA Philharmonic (Zubin Mehta). In reviewing his recent Vivaldi CD, Eugenia Zukerman wrote Shostacs range of colors, his embellishments and his gorgeous tone are simply astonishing.
