An Urban Nutcracker
There is music and something for everyone to appreciate that will have them reminiscing about some of their family holiday events.
Modernized & Urbanized
An Urban Nutcracker is a twist on the traditional Nutcracker. SMAGs version moves the party from a Victorian home to a Brownstone in the City. R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock, Progressive, House and Gospel are examples of the music selection. The family party is turned up by Uncle Ricky, who replaces Herr Drosselmyer, and being Uncle Ricky he brings two homeless people to the family gathering. The family dance transforms into a series of line dances in the family living room.
Some other character changes include Katrine or Trina in place of Clara, The Giant Soldier and Rat King become the Hip Hop Soulja and the Hoodrat Queen that in engage in a street dance battle royal. The ever famous Sugarplum Fairy is Mama Blackberry and the Cavalier become Papa Blackberry, her husband who helps her run Club Blackberry. A host of acts replace the exotic guests in the Land of Beats
