100 YEARS OF NEW ORLEANS MUSIC - From Louis Armstrong to Trombone Shorty

Saturday, December 17 | 7 pm | $10 ($5 for Children and Students)

Members of THE HOODOO LOUNGERS including Music Historian/Filmmaker Joe Lauro and drummer Claes Brondal on drums and will present a retrospective of the countless and continuously evolving  forms of New Orleans music. A 100-year retrospective will begin with the Gut Bucket Blues and Jazz of Bunk Johnson, and continue with the "Hot" Jazz of Louis Armstrong through to the New Orleans "Swamp Rock" and Voodoo sounds of Dr. John and the Neville Brothers.  The concert will follow a chronological time line of New Orleans music ending with the more current brass band style as exemplified by Trombone Shorty and the Soul Rebels.

The concert will be recorded live for The Jam Session Radio Hour to be aired on local NPR affiliate WPPB 88.3 FM.

About The Jam Session Inc.
The Jam Session is based on the art of improvising with Jazz as the primary foundation, with other styles and influences present as well. TJS is continuously trying to promote and encourage musicians and audience members from the global community to participate, creating an eclectic mix of music and culture. Inspired by the late night jam sessions and loft rehearsals in New York City, TJS believes that the evolution and survival of improvisational music takes place in front of a live audience, being inclusive and accessible to all who want to engage. Frequent local home for The Jam Session is Bay Burger in Sag Harbor.Visit http://thejamsession.org/.
