Jazz Guitar Masters John Stowell & Mark Kleinhaut
Capital District Jazz and Universal Preservation Hall invite you to enjoy an evening of jazz guitar wizardry with two renowned jazz guitarists to celebrate the release of their new CD Cross Country Lines. John Stowell and Mark Kleinhaut combine their unique styles to produce music of remarkable beauty. Using the Great American Songbook as inspiration they reimagine the repertoire to create improvisatory flights that are strikingly original, harmoniously textured, mysterious, melodic and romantic. Jazz Times writer Bill Milkowski notes of the duos CD The two guitarists mesh so beautifully... some real six-string magic happens that will make guitar aficionados sit up and take notice. This intimate concert is perfect for a mid-week date night during Saratoga Springs restaurant week.

In addition to inviting all youth under age 18 to attend free of charge, Capital District Jazz (CDJ) is allocating all net proceeds of the concert to provide scholarship funding for the All Ears Music workshop (summer 2017). All Ears: Jazz and Improvised Music Workshop (a program of CDJ) is a fun hands-on way for students of all ages to learn about jazz and improvised music. The instructors teach participants how to play using a traditional teaching method utilized by many of the jazz greats. This "play by ear" method develops a student's listening skills and the step-by-step guidance provided by the faculty, allows students to achieve results quickly, even beginners. All Ears workshops take place in the summer at locations in the Capital District, with scholarships and tuition assistance available. For more information, visit www.cdjazz.org.
