Data Driven Estimation and Fact-Based Decisions for Software Projects
A realistic estimate of software development and implementation effort, duration and quality can be a formidable challenge to Projects and Programs where software is a major element of the final results. Parametric estimation provides a framework for planning, monitoring and forecasting the impact of software development activities on a project. This presentation provides an overview of applying parametric estimation and control to a project's software activities, using software project performance in the project lessons learned and leveraging an organizations experience into its portfolio management decisions.
Speakers Bio Hugh Klipp has envisioned and implemented organizational improvements across multiple industry sectors including insurance, banking, energy, and satellite imaging). He has many years of experience planning, implementing, measuring, validating, and managing sophisticated process improvement and information technology initiatives, as a program manager, corporate executive and as consultant. He has been using, speaking on, and implementing parametric estimation and control since his first assignment to the U.S Army Computer Systems Command. He led the parametric estimation practice at Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse Coopers. He worked with Quantitative Software Management as a customer and independent consultant. Before joining QSM as a consultant in 2013, he served as the senior quality executive at GeoEye, a satellite imaging corporation, leading its PMO initiative as well as overseeing quality aspects of satellite, ground system, and image processing programs.
