Valley Echoes: a reintroduction to the SFV Master Chorale
San Fernando Valley Master Chorale
Haesun Pope, piano
Niccole Modell, flute
Charlie Kim, conductor

Moses Hogan, Eric Whitacre, Renaissance music, broadway, Mozart, and much more!

The San Fernando Valley Master Chorale, comprised of professional and community singers, is proud to announce that Charlie Kim has taken over as Artistic Director from retiring Maestro Terry Danne, who led the award- winning Chorale for 17 years.
Charlie Kim, a southern California native and piano virtuoso, is an
accomplished vocalist, conductor, and teacher. He has served as a singer,
pianist, assistant conductor, and vocal coach for opera companies and artist
summer programs in the U.S. and abroad, and has a Bachelor of Music in Vocal
Performance from California State University Northridge and a Master of Music
in Vocal Performance and Collaborative Keyboard from the University of North Texas College of Music. Currently, Kim is music director for a local parish, piano/vocal coach teaching artist and vocal soloist for Los Angeles Opera's Education and Community Department, as well as a member of the world-renowned Los Angeles Master Chorale.
I am honored to be carrying on a legacy of choral tradition for classical music lovers of the Valley, remarked Kim. The vision goes beyond me and the master chorale--by collaborating with other valley-based performance organizations such as the San Fernando Valley Symphony and L.A. Winds, we hope to bring a wide variety of performance art by pooling resources. I find the potential here very exciting.
The Chorales first performance under Charlie Kim, Valley Echoes, an all acapella concert featuring the voices of the San Fernando Valley Chorale in a resonant space, will include choral favorites such as Moses Hogan, Eric Whitacre, and Thomas Tallis. The concert will be held October 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Encino, 4963 Balboa Boulevard, Encino. For ticket information, go to www.sfvmc.com.
The San Fernando Valley Master Chorale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performance organization for choral singers representing the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas. Its mission is to foster community engagement and pride through quality performances of chorale masterworks on a large scale and to be a beacon of the highest level of musicianship for audience and performers alike. In addition to local venues such as the Madrid Theater, Valley Performing Arts Center (CSUN) and Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, the last several years have seen the Chorale performing at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York, and at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
Those interested in becoming individual or community partners with the SFV Master Chorale by financial means or other services, or becoming a member of the board, please email info@sfvmc.com.
