This special concert will Celebrate the unique sound and development of Afro-Cuban Jazz. An innovative movement that shook up the jazz scene 70 years ago, Cuban and jazz music have maintained a healthy marriage through the political challenges of the past 50 years.
Latin from Manhattan will feature music of pioneering musicians in Latin jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie, Machito, Chico O'Farrill, Mario Bauza, Chano Pozo, and many other influential composers and performers of this powerful blend of American and Cuban music.
The performance will feature world-class musicians from our global and local community, including Ada Rovatti on saxophone, Nestor Milanes on piano, Steve Shaughnessy on bass, Claes Brondal on drums, and more to be announced.
