Apocalypse: A Lifting of the Veil
Apocalypse: A Lifting of the Veil is a performance by Ancora, a Seattle-based women's choir.
  • Tess Orozco, Artistic Director
  • Paul Che Oke'ten Wagner, Narrator and Native American Flute
This concert will explore several cultural calendar cycles and their synchronization in 2012. Areas covered will include the Mayan Long Count, Hopi Nation prophecies, climate change and the Alaskan Inuit, completion of the Vedic Kali Yuga, the astrological procession of the Equinox, and the significance of these cycles culminating with the sun's eclipse of the Galactic Center on December 21st, 2012.  We will especially address the influence of these messages on the environment and the impact of our current choices on all living things.

Apocalypse:  A Lifting of the Veil will incorporate songs from around the globe as well as a new suite, "The Four Horsement of the Apocalypse," by local composer Jeremiah Oliver.  Ancora's intent is to educate our audiences about the powerful time in which we are living right now.  There is an abundance of misinformation circulating warnings about 'doomsday' and 'the end of the earth.'  The ancient calendars symbolize the opposite.  This is a time of rebirth and renewal, moving into an era promising potential for positive evolution.  Through music, readings, and beautiful sets, Ancora will 'lift the veil' and show that 2012 is not about the world ending - it's about the world changing.
