Chain and the Gang with Calvin Johnson and Katie and the Lichen
Dependably perverse and dependably sassy, Chain & the Gang is a moveable riot, a dance craze and pop machine rolled into one irreverently stylish package. On the group's third album In Cool Blood, frontman and ringleader Ian Svenonious (Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Weird War, Vice Tv's Soft Focus) mixes the anti-authoritarian stance of DC Hardcore punk with summertime party vibes, cheeky banter and classic hooks. The result? Infectious fun. Co-headlining this debonair affair is lo-fi legend Calvin Johnson (K Records owner and founder, Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic Sound System), whose deep voice and idiosyncratic, lonesome songs will burrow down in your mind. Katie and the Lichen, a sweet-but-not-too-sweet, radical female pop ensemble from Vancouver, open.
