An American Story: The Queen City Ragtime Ensemble - FAMILY MATINEE
Denver's Queen City Ragtime Ensemble makes a rare appearance, this time in Paonia, presenting a historical concert of America's first music: Ragtime! Bring a blanket or some chairs . . . to celebrate the first concert in our second season, we're having it outdoors at our favorite local farmhouse restaurant, Fresh 'n Wyld. Enjoy a Dava Parr farm-to-table dinner, drinks and concessions on the lawn in the evening air. Tickets are available at the Blue Sage Gallery, by phone at (970) 527-7243 or online at Brown Paper Tickets. Click Here to visit the Brown Paper Tickets event page to purchase your tickets online. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Blue Sage Hall, so your ticket will still designate a seat. In the case of good weather, extra tickets will be sold at the event. About the Artists The Queen City Ragtime Ensemble gives new life to the music our grandparents loved. They will delight you with the rags and songs from the time of Scott Joplin and Sunday concerts in the park. You will hear four gentleman who have mastered their instruments, and you may even hear one or more of them break into song. John Bredenberg, who switches between banjo and clarinet, is a multi-talented veteran of many groups, and a musical antiquarian. Bill Clark, who provides the foundation of the group with his tuba, is a retired musical educator and the long-time leader of the Queen City Jazz Band. Hank Troy, the pianist, is Denver's premier performer of ragtime and a renowned accompanist for silent movies. Maurie Walker, who has been playing traditional jazz and ragtime banjo for over a half century, functions as the arranger and leader for the group. The happy sounds of banjo, clarinet, piano, and tuba will lighten the heaviest of hearts and have your feet tapping in no time.
