Elegant Simplicity
When Cindy Church and Nathan Tinkham left Victoria in the spring of 1984 to pursue a musical career, they had little idea of what lay ahead. Beginning as a duo at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife, the next dozen years would find them wending their way through various collaborations and incarnations. As well as building their own careers, Cindy and Nathan became part of the fabric of the folk and country scenes in Canada as members of the Ian Tyson band, Great Western Orchestra and Quartette. Along the way they worked with many other artists as Patsy Montana, Charlie Louvin, Jethro Burns, Sylvia Tyson and Murray McLauchlin to name a few.
After parting ways in 1997 Cindy continued with Quartette and went on to other projects such as Lunch at Allen's and "The Nearness of You", a tribute to Hoagy Carmichael. Nathan performed with the Undertakin' Daddies and continues to work many other artists. He also produces projects from his recording studio on Gabriola Island.
Following a successful tour in 2015, they are back for a few dates on Vancouver Island. Listeners can expect to hear new songs and directions along with their classic material.
"Cindy Church, Nathan Tinkham and I have been singing and playing together off and on for ten years. In that time, I've watched Cindy develop into just about the best song stylist around, while Nathan's guitar playing is original and decisive. IAN TYSON, LONGVIEW, ALBERTA
"....there's no mistaking the Alberta-based folk/country singer's precise, bell-like voice. Once you hear it, you will know immediately who it is." - BILLBOARD MAGAZINE
"Cindy Church has that special magic to be able to attract an ear with her clear, plaintive, high country vocal delivery. It' s a spellbinding experience to listen to her create vocal imagery with her singing.
