Wen-Do Women's Self-Defence Course in Kitchener
Welcome to the registration page for the upcoming full Wen-Do basic course that is happening in downtown Kitchener in Fall 2016!
The course will take place three consecutive Saturdays: October 22nd, October 29th and November 5th. The course will be 1pm-6pm each day. The exact location of the course will be shared with you upon registration.
The course location is up two large flights of stairs and there is no elevator. We apologize for the limited accessibility of this event.
Here is a little bit about Wen-Do: Wen-Do is Canada's longest-running self-defence organization by-and-for women! Since 1972 we have been bringing powerful self-defence training to women and girls just like you! Girls as young as 10 are welcome to attend this course and there is no upper age limit!
This 15-hour course is a combination of conversation-style mini-workshops and verbal and physical self-defence training. Participants will look at a wide variety of scenarios including stranger and known attackers, weapons self-defence, gang and swarming scenarios and ground-and-bed self-defence.
All course content is designed to be effective when defending yourself against a physically larger and stronger attacker. All course content can be modified to suit you and your body - no gym membership necessary.
This course is survivor-centered and is meant to challenge victim-blaming attitudes that are present in society. We want to provide you with more options, NOT more rules! The goal is to share life-saving, effective self-defence techniques and to have fun doing it!
Shailagh is a compassionate, intuitive self-defence instructor who uses humour and storytelling to help you (re-)write your narratives and stories of success! By using each other as inspiration you are invited in this course to embody your greater power.
This course is not just about learning a few moves. It is a holistic course that is designed to welcome your whole self and leave you feeling more powerful than ever before.
