Wendy MacIsaac & Troy MacGillivray - Cape Breton Dance & Concert
Nova Scotia musicians Wendy MacIsaac & Troy Mac Gillivray bring their lively traditional tunes to the Canadian American Club for a Downeast style dance.  Come learn the straightforward Mabou square set or simply sit and enjoy the music in the authentic atmosphere of the Canadian American Club. It's such a treat to have both of these remarkable representatives of the Cape Breton style!

Wendy MacIsaac is a renowned fiddler from Cape Breton who has been playing music for over 30 years. She is recognized as one of the "old school" style of players who has kept the traditional sound going and has a deep respect for it. She is highly sought after not only to teach the genre, but also to play at dances all over Nova Scotia where her style energizes the dancers. Wendy is also an accomplished pianist and step dancer. Her latest recording, Off the Floor, won ECMA Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year. Her prior album, Seinn, recorded with Gaelic singer Mary Jane Lamond, was awarded Canadian Folk Music Award Winner Traditional Album of the Year in 2013.
Troy MacGillivray is an accomplished musician who was born into a rich cultural tradition and has been performing from a very young age across Canada, North America and all over the globe. Troy plays the music of his ancestors who immigrated to Canada from Scotland over 200 years ago. With 6 CDs and numerous ECMAs, Music Nova Scotia and Canadian Folk Music awards and nominations to his credit, Troy balances traditional music with his own internationally acclaimed compositions. He has a roots-centered approach to his fiddle and piano playing that has the power to inspire any audience, who are constantly captivated by his flying fingers and energetic pace and occasional step dance too!.
