Ten years after its inaugural performance with the California Guitar Trio, the Natasha Carlitz Dance Ensemble presents a new collaboration with composer-in-residence Mike Coffin. The "Acadia Suite," performed with a live string quartet, brings to life the natural drama and grandeur of Acadia National Park in Maine and the human warmth of the people who work there and those who enjoy the park's lakes and hiking trails.
Also on the program are premieres of the grand orchestral "Present" and an intimate solo, "Icarus: Learning To Fly"; a new work by guest choreographer Helena Birecki; and a wide variety of pieces developed over the past two years by the Carlitz/Coffin combo, ranging from the quirky "Study in Entomology" to the sparsely elegant "Euclidean Plane."
