Triumph & Homecoming
Our final concert of the season features award-winning soprano Dana Lynne Varga in the challenging title role of Schuberts powerful Mirjams Siegesgesang, a dramatic retelling of the flight from Egypt complete with sea monsters, a furious storm, and triumphant victory dance. The theme of homecoming unites the balance of the program. Brahms lovely An die Heimat expresses a heartfelt, wistful longing for home, while songs by Aaron Copland, including At the River and Long Time Ago, transport us to an earlier American era.
