CITY OF TREES. A deeply personal story about the struggle for good jobs and environmental justice in our cities. The showcase will include the theatrical trailer to the feature-length film.
PROJECT SING. A story about an inspiring group of older people in DCs Fort Lincoln neighborhood who attempt to address the root causes of isolation through community organizing. The showcase will include the 20-minute demo of the film (which is currently in post-production).
HARD EARNED. Hard Earned follows five families around the country to find out what it takes to get by on $8, $10, or even $17 an hour, turning an intimate lens on a group of 21st century American dreamers fighting against all odds to thrive, when it takes everything they have to simply survive. Produced by legendary Kartemquin Films in Chicago (MHP served as field producer of the DC storyline), the landmark 6-part series initially aired on Al Jazeera America. The showcase will include one of the 50-minute episodes.
Subjects from each of the films will participate in a panel discussion reflecting on the process of sharing their stories through these long-form documentary films.
