Trainspotting with Sarasa in Cambridge
All aboard for Sarasa's special tour of train-inspired music in our March concert set, including works by 19th-century train enthusiast Antonin Dvorák and Steve Reich's very personal account of train travel in the 20th century. Biber's wonderfully exuberant violin sonata No. 3 from the 1660s, composed some 100 years before trains were even invented, anticipates those very sounds we imagine when a locomotive chugs along its route. Not to be missed!
Program for March 25, 2017 at the Friends Meeting House in Cambridge, MA will include:
Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber Sonata No. 3 for violin and basso continuo Steve Reich Different Trains for string quartet and electric tape Antonín Dvorák American String Quartet, No. 12 in F major, Op. 96
Miranda Fulleylove & Jesse Irons, violins; Jason Fisher, viola; Jennifer Morsches, cello; TBA theorbo
**Please note that there is no admission charge for children 12 years old and under.
