Local Feature- "The Interrupters"
Local Feature is a film series to highlight the innovative stories and talented filmmakers of Chicago. Filmmakers, producers and actors who participate in this event will engage with the Catalyst Ranch audience, sharing their creative process and recounting examples of key takeaways or teachings from the film. During the networking portion of the event, filmmakers are on hand to interact with the audience, answer questions and present merchandise.

A film by Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz
The award-winning Kartemquin Films documentary about violence prevention was the Chicago movie of 2011. In this stirring and powerfully insightful year-long journey through Chicago's inner city, director/producer Steve James (HOOP DREAMS) and author-turned-producer Alex Kotlowitz (There Are No Children Here) follow three courageous "violence interrupters" working for the innovative organization CeaseFire, as they patrol the city's meanest streets to defuse scenarios of heart-stopping volatility.

All proceeds from this event will benefit CeaseFire, an organization that uses a public health model to stop shootings and killings. They combine Science and Street Outreach to track where violence is heating up and then cool the situation down. http://ceasefirechicago.org/
