WILLY PORTER DUO
A BENEFIT FOR HAITI ALLIES featuring Willy Porter & Carmen Nickerson with special guest Ida Jo.
Guitarist and singer/songwriter Willy Porter has been turning first time listeners into die-hard fans for more than two decades. Porter combines an energetic finger-picking guitar style with rich songwriting to deliver music that somehow feels both fresh and timeless.
Porter joins forces to perform with fellow Milwaukee native, singer Carmen Nickerson whose soulful vocals pair exquisitely with Willys grooves to produce soaring harmonies that add fresh layers and new depth to Porters songs. Nickerson lends her songwriting licks to the break-out tune This Train from Porters 2015s Human Kindness and Iowa Sky off of the pairs debut EP Cheeseburgers and Gasoline (2013). In 2016 the duo performed as the featured musical guests on NPRs A Prairie Home Companion.
Porter and Nickerson are excited to bring listeners a new disc of co-writes produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Ben Wisch (March Cohn, Jonatha Brooke) slated for release in the fall of 2016.
Together these highly accomplished artists take audiences on a unique musical ride full of heart, grit, energy, and fun that showcases the best of what live music has to offer.
Hes an amazing guitar player, singer and songwriter. His female accomplice (Carmen Nickerson) produces a very smooth, accurate harmonic blend with him. Did I say I liked this? I REALLY do. Al Kooper, music legend/producer on Cheeseburgers and Gasoline
