Help Me, Wanda! Premiere @Epicure
Join veteran rock n roll cabaret artist Toni Rae Salmi and her band The Wandmonium for a freewheellin tribute to the Queen of Rockabilly, Wanda Jackson! Gutsy, original, boundary-busting and bad-ass, Rock n Roll Hall-of-Famer Wanda Jackson is a true pioneer. Hailed as a shimmying emblem of female independence in a male-dominated industry, Wanda was at the forefront of the rock and roll revolution - touring with Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis while making records as uninhibited as any of her male counterparts. Still touring and recording to this day, her recent collaborators include Jack White, Justin Townes Earle and Joan Jett. From Wanda Jackson favorites like Lets Have a Party and Funnel of Love to Wanda-influenced takes on contemporary songs, HELP ME, WANDA! takes you through Jackson's journey from teen-aged country singer to rock pioneer and how that journey served as Tonis personal inspiration.
