Elizabeth Pitcairn and the Red Violin: In Concert at the Indian Lake Theater
The historic Indian Lake Theater is the setting for an evening of classical music featuring the world's most famous violin, its owner, violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn, pianist Barbara Podgurski, and french horn player Beth Graham.
The Red Violin was created by Antonio Stradavari in 1720. Through many lives and many owners, the Red Violin has thrived. A fictional account of its life was captured in the 1999 Academy Award-winning film, The Red Violin. The Indian Lake Theater will show the film on July 24.
The the Red Violin's current incarnation is in partnership with Elizabeth Pitcairn, virtuoso violist and President, CEO and Artistic Director of the Luzerne Music Center.
Ms. Pitcairn will be joined by pianist Barbara Podgurski. Ms. Podgurski has been featured as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She is currently on the faculty of the Mannes College of Music, Hunger College and the Music Conservatory of Westchester.
Performing with Ms. Pitcairn and Ms. Podgurski is french horn player Beth Graham. Ms. Graham has performed with the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra. She is on the faculty at the Luzerne Music Center.
