Donny McCaslin Group
NOTE: Change to lineup for this show, Nate Wood is on drums and Jonathan Maron is on bass.

Donny and his band are featured on the new David Bowie recording Blackstar, released in January, 2016 which has garnered significant world wide acclaim since its release. Donny was also the featured soloist on the David Bowie single Sue in 2014. He won the Downbeat critics poll for rising star in 2008 & 2009 and received a Chamber Music of America new works grant in 2006. He also received the French Jazz Man award in 2007 for the recording In Pursuit and has toured with Maria Schneider, Dave Douglas, Danilo Perez, Brian Blade, Gil Evans project, Steps Ahead, and many others. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two young children.

Opening for Donny McCaslin is the Jonathan Whitney Project, a great regional group. Joe Anderson - trumpet, Tom Palmer - keys, Rob Swanson - bass, Jonathan Whitney- drums.
The Jonathan Whitney Project approaches jazz from all angles. They will swing, groove, soothe, and invigorate you with their edgy improvisations.

Three time Grammy nominee for Best Instrumental Jazz Solo, Donny McCaslin was raised in Santa Cruz, California. After playing in his fathers band as a teenager Donny attended Berklee College of Music and, in his senior year, joined the Gary Burton Quintet.

Since moving to New York in 1991 Donny has recorded 12 CDs as a leader including his most recent 2016 release Beyond Now featuring the band in Arden, Tim Lefebvre, Mark Guiliana, and Jason Lindner and including 2 covers of past Bowie songs.

This concert is supported by a Special Presenters grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts foundation and the Delaware Division of the Arts.
