CHI Summer Abroad Benefit Concert
Come enjoy music by Marshall House Project, tasty BBQ, and quench your thirst with local beers and wine.
100% of all proceeds go directly to supporting local Sonoma County high school students who will be participating in the 2016 CHI Summer Abroad program.
This program is a once in a lifetime experience for our local Sonoma County high school students. Participants will spend five weeks studying abroad at our CHI Academy in Kenya. This year we had nine students apply, and we accepted all nine students (1 from Windsor High, 1 from Santa Rosa High, 2 from Sonoma Academy, 2 from Analy High, and 3 from El Molino High). We were also able to award ALL nine students with scholarships ranging from $500 to a full program scholarship of $5,405.
This benefit concert is an opportunity for our participants to raise funds to help support them on their way.
Purchase early as ticket prices go up at the door. Marshall House Project is a driving soul-funk outfit with one foot rooted in the deep pockets of the past and the other fearlessly exploring the deep fry of the future. The sound is an electric love-child: the product of an affair between Jimi Hendrix and the Funky Meters, after a long night of drinking with space aliens, and jamming to Bob on the jukebox. MHP delivers a mash-up of energetic funk and slinky soul with a psychedelic twist and a chili salt rim. The mission: to create an uplifting dance experience, spun full of twists and turns, interlaced with conscious reflective lyrics, expanding, contracting and alive like a universe unto itself.
