Jazz/cabaret song stylist Maye Cavallaro, known for her charismatic stage performances, emotional delivery and eclectic song choices, returns to the Sound Room for an evening of music with an all star cast of Bay Area veterans featuring John R. Burr on piano, Jeff Neighbor on upright bass, David Rokeach on drums and Dave Bendigkeit on trumpet. Equally at home with classic jazz standards, blues, and pop, Cavallaro makes each song her own through sophisticated arrangements and stellar musicianship.
"Cavallaro's rich and soothing tone will put you in a romantic mood. Unhurried and precise, she'll take you through this journey and tell you all the stories and heartaches that come along." New Sounds, Jazz Now Magazine
Maye is a faculty member of the innovative Jazzschool in Berkeley, now The California Jazz Conservatory, teaching stagecraft and jazz singing for over ten years and for the past five has been Mentor for the Concert Preparation and Performance series. She will be producing her 27th concert this month. For the last three years she has been teaching a series of "Composer Workshops" featuring music from the American Songbook where students learn and sing music from the great composers. She's released three well-received CDs of classic standards and jazz takes on modern pop music.
