About the concert:
The center of this concert is the world premiere of Trevor Berens' fourteen movement song cycle, "Pomes Penyeach". Using various compositional techniques and tonalities, he explores the subjects of love, joy, fear, and death that are present throughout Joyce's last collection of poetry.
Accompanying this is the L.A. premiere of "Cella Duru" By Berens, a trio for soprano, oboe, and piano, and "Gapayati" by NF Chase, both of which explore the inner experience of listening.
