Global Rhythms: Zing Go the Strings
Town Hall's celebration of string music from around the world presents our sixth annual program with a new slate of outstanding artists from three great cultural traditions. Featured artists include Li Bo from Mongolia playing the horsehead fiddle, a unique instrument many consider the forerunner to several Western stringed instruments, accompanied with traditional dance by his wife, Bao Xiaoyan; The Tallboys playing old time American string band music with buck dancing, along with professional caller Tony Mates who'll teach everyone a bit of square dancing (bring your dancing shoes!); and House of Tarab, Seattles outstanding Arab music ensemble with former Iraqi National Orchestra violinist Salah Ali.
