Renowned music historian Rick Starr presents another RICK'S PICKS BENEFIT CONCERT. CHANGING MY TUNE: THE SONGS OF JOEL EVANS & ADRYAN RUSS will be presented on Sunday, June 24th at 5PM (doors open at 4:30 for light refreshments) in a private Studio City home. Do you love the standards performed by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Bublé and Diana Krall? Then this RICK'S PICKS -- CHANGING MY TUNE -- is the one for you!
JOEL EVANS and ADRYAN RUSS met at a gathering of The Society of Composers & Lyricists (www.TheSCL.com) in Los Angeles. Joel was writing for film and television and seeking talented lyricists. Adryan had been writing pop tunes and songs for musical theater and was looking to write lyrics to great melodies and change her tune. Their collaboration showcases a mutual love for jazz and standards. Some of these songs have been placed in film and on TV. Come and learn which ones! While these songs have proven valuable to music supervisors for use in film and TV, Evans and Russ believe that singers of the Great American Songbook will also appreciate them. The brilliant songwriter Arthur Hamilton, who wrote "Cry Me A River," says about Evans and Russ' song "Moments in Life""Don't even try to get away from it; it'll chase you down the block." The outstanding cast, led by Musical Director Shelly Markham with Tim Emmons on Bass and Tom Bowe on Drums, includes Special Guest Stars Barbara Morrison and Mark Winkler with Dianne Fraser, Courtney Freed, Karen Gedissman, Nina Herzog, Adam James, Rebecca Johnson, Mark Arthur Miller and Rick Starr. All proceeds will benefit the Summit View School Music Program.
