Eight 75-minute Rehearsals:
Monday evenings, 7:00-8:15, beginning March 14th in our Mid-City/Fairgrounds studio
and
Performance: Saturday, May 7th, 2pm (1:00 Sound Check)
at the Old U.S. Mint
Course Description:
Adult musicians who are fluent on their instruments and can read a lead sheet are invited to hone their skills in ensemble performance, improvisation and music literacy while networking with potential collaborators and passing a good time in a light, supportive atmosphere. We'll play from written arrangements, adding 1-3 new charts per week, so the more fluent you are with reading the more you will enjoy the experience and the faster you'll progress.
Under the direction of acclaimed musician-educator Khari Allen Lee (KhariAllenLee.com), this 8-week course and concert will survey New Orleans R&B favorites with a spotlight on the prolific New Orleans composer and pianist, the late Mr. Allen Toussaint.
Participants must provide their own instruments with the exception of keyboard and drums which will be available on site, along with vocal PA and amps for guitar and bass. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you prefer to register offline call 504-942-7606 right away. Space is extremely limited and this non-audition course fills on a first-come, first-served basis. If you attempt to register and it says that your instrument of choice is sold out contact us right away to make sure we have you on our mailing list for future sessions and to put you on a contact list in case a spot opens up.
