Prayers from the Ark: Songs of Lamentation and Jubilation
Since ancient days, Jewish texts have mourned, celebrated and questioned. San Francisco Choral Artists will explore this world through rarely heard Yiddish and Ladino folk music, liturgical works, Psalms, songs, and chant from many centuries.
Featuring Ivor Davies' Prayers from the Ark, and works by Milhaud, Mendelssohn, Rossi, Zimpel, Schönberg, Weill, and world premieres by award-winning composer Robin Estrada, Composers-in and Not-in-Residence John Kelley and Shawn Crouch, and our under 30 New Voices Project Competition winners.
