No Ordinary Women: A Tribute to Mothers
Come celebrate the beauty and extraordinary lives of the special women in your life! "No Ordinary Women: A Tribute to Mothers" will focus on music about women and by women. The first half will feature music about the Virgin Mary, mothers from Brazil, Harriet Tubman, and the characteristics of feminine love and beauty. The second half will celebrate women composers culminating in a dedication to Judy Famous with a performance of a work which she suggested to Ms. Banghart in 2004. Judy was a gifted oboist and teacher who passed away tragically. The Rose, the Briar, and the Bicycle by Gwyneth Walker features a virtuoso oboe part which Judy would have performed. What a nice way to celebrate Mother's Day!
