Sol y Canto
Sol y Canto (sun and song) is an exuberant Latin musical ensemble headed by Rosi and Brian Amador, two of the founding members of the renowned Boston-based Latin band, Flor de Caa (1984 - 1994). Brians warm, versatile playing shows how the nylon-string guitar, often abandoned in contemporary popular Latin music, provides a backbone of harmony, melody and percussive rhythms from the Flamenco styles brought by the Spanish settlers to the sones of the Trio Matamoros, and how vibrantly relevant that instrument is to the music of today. Rosis expressive, crystalline voice has been described by the Boston Globe as like clean spring water: its smooth, its clear, and somehow, you come to believe that its necessary for life.
