Matt Miner Presents and sponsor Hearing Health welcome Annalisa Tornfelt and the Tornfelt Sisters to O'Connor's Vault, Sunday, January 10 at 7pm. Born and raised in Alaska, Annalisa listened to classical music, Disney, and Chuck Mangione's song, "Children of Sanchez". She played bluegrass for decades and recently discovered rock and when her bandmates in Black Prairie asked her to sing a cover of "The Song Remains the Same" at a New Years Eve party. Originally a side project of the Decemberists, Black Prairie has become a major touring and recording act of its own with five albums released, most on the Sugar Hill label. Annalisa has become the face of the band, and its main vocalist.
"I asked Annalisa to play a few fiddle tunes with me, which soon flipped to her picking up a guitar and singing Hank Williams," says her Black Prairie bandmate, Chris Funk, also a member of the Decemberists. "It was simple, but it was stunning. It's those moments when she grabs the all too familiar guitar and sings a song that you realize your bandmate and friend has the unique gift and power to make the weight of the world lift for three minutes."
