Occidental Center for the Arts is pleased to present a compelling fusion of Vintage Americana past and present: The Songcatcher's Tour: Jim Kweskin & Meredith Axelrod with Suzy Thompson. Jug Band legend Jim Kweskin, best known as a singer and bandleader who created one of the bedrock guitar styles of the folk revival (jimkweskin.com) , has found a youthful kindred soul in authentic and engaging vintage Americana singer and guitarist Meredith Axelrod (meredithaxelrod.com). They'll be joined by famed acoustic violinist and powerful blues singer Suzy Thompson, a leading force in roots and Cajun music groups (California Cajun Orchestra, Any Old Time String Band, Berkeley Old Time Music Convention) who tours with duo partner flatpicker Eric Thompson.(ericandsuzy.com) . Don't miss this Vintage Americana showcase of lost songs plucked out of times past and into the 21rst Century with a skill, passion and humor that will enchant and engage you.This concert is a CD release for the new album "Come On In" ! The Songcatcher's Tour will be coming via Freight & Salvage in Berkeley to OCA for one night only. Reservations advised.
The award-winning songcatchers, arrangers, and guitarists will also be offering a rare WORKSHOP at 5 pm in the OCA classroom. $20 Workshop only; Advance Registration please . There will be an 8 pm CONCERT for $25 /Advance or at the door. $35 for BOTH Workshop and Concert. Fine Refreshments including wine and beer for sale.
