45th Annual Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival
Since 1972, the Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music, a non-profit organization, have sponsored the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival, making it one of the oldest such events devoted to bluegrass music in the world. Since 1990 the festival has been held at the Salem County Fairgrounds located along US Route 40 about 4 miles west of Woodstown, New Jersey and 7 miles east of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Founded in conjunction with bluegrass pioneers Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley, the festival seeks year in and year out to present the finest and most accomplished bluegrass bands and performers, not only from the United States but from around the world as well. True to their organizational name, the lineup always includes old time music and related genres that will resonate with bluegrass and country audiences. The Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival is a family-friendly event, with plenty for the kids to do, including a separate afternoon "Kid's Stage" on Friday and Saturday. Many attendees camp out on the grounds, beginning on Wednesday morning when the gates open through Sunday night. There is plenty of room for RV'ers and tenters alike, and while there is no additional ticket charge for campers, camping is available to Full Weekend ticket holders only.
