FestiBal Astéroïde will be making its debut at Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn, NY, on May 26th 2012.
Created by Magda Giannikou and the internationally-acclaimed world music group Banda Magda, the FestiBal is designed to serve as a uniquely fun and vibrant platform where arts can collide with a goal to make music that moves. Music that moves in space, music that moves in time, music that moves people!
FestiBal Astéroïde will feature a lush Smörgåsbord of musical delights ranging from Sufi music to percussive loop creations, tribal African beats, breathtaking vocal improvisations, French chanson and Brazilian batucada frenzy.
The evening will be featuring Sufi Singer/Songwriter Arooj Aftab, LP endorsed
percussionist Marcelo Woloski "in the Loop", the stunning voices of Women of The World, worldly grooves and French pop with the always exuberant Banda Magda and will close with a bang and a boom and a burst of frenetic dancing triggered by "Forro Dance Party" led by Brazilian "Madame Forro" Liliana Araújo.
The event will also be splashed and sprinkled with video projections, drumming workshops and interactive song cycles!
Doors to this exceedingly fun night will open at 6pm!
