Kantorei: To Bethlehem
Carols have been used to tell the Christmas story across centuries and continents. Since Renaissance times, Advent worship services have used carols and motets, polyphonic, text driven choral compositions, to tell the ancient story of the travelers to Bethlehem in song.
This concert features the brilliant imaginings of several familiar carol arrangements by the talented Matthew Culloton along with a collection of stunning late 16th Century motets by lesser known composers, such as Blasius Ammon and Melchior Vulpius. These carols interspersed with motets tell the Christmas story anew.
