We close our 2011-2012 season with performances that showcase one of the most powerful and compelling aspects of choral music: words. We explore how different composers give sonnets, odes, riddles, and rhymes unique pairs of musical wings.
World premieres by Russell Burnham, Paul Chihara, Allen Shearer, Matt Van Brink, and Daniel Galbreath are programmed alongside favorite works by Brahms, Elgar, Schumann and Randall Thompson. Poets featured include Shakespeare, W. S. Graham, Longfellow, Rilke, Steinbeck, April Bernhard, and Robert Herrick.
