Bonnie D Stroir May 6 - TIGERS
South Island Sirens Roller Derby League proudly presents roller derby coach and skater extraordinaire, Bonnie D. Stroir - all the way from the USA. Bonnie is the founder of the San Diego Derby Dolls, was MVP for the San Diego Derby Dolls 2008, 2009, 2010, Highest Scoring Jammer Derby Dolls 2010, Battle On the Bank Tournament MVP 2009, 2011, and most recently was World Cup Champions, Team USA's Assistant Coach.
These one day camps will focus on blocking and jamming skills, strategy and footwork. Bonnie's approach to coaching sees her discuss the mental side of derby and life as well, giving participants a truly holistic experience, walking away with a diverse set of physical and mental tools to improve their game.
THESE ARE ONE- DAY CAMPS. Please assess your skill level with the guides below and register for the camp that is suitable for you. There will be a black and white scrimmage at the end of each day.
Skills Assessment for TIGERS -
ADVANCED
* Has 1.5 years plus of derby experience
* Has played in intra-league bouts
* Has a good understanding of the rules of the game and most strategy
* Can hold their own on the track, executing and receiving 'big hits'
ALL-STARS
* Has 2 years plus of derby experience
* Is on their leagues travel or all-star team
* Clearly understands the game; the rules, the strategy and can skate very well
* Has no problem taking extremely hard hits and giving them back
