THE FAIRY, April 6-12, Comedy, NR, 94 min, in French with English subtitles
Official Selection: Cannes International Film Festival (Directors' Fortnight)

"Deliriously droll...a steady stream of laughs." - Peter Debruge, Variety

Dom is the night clerk at a small hotel near the industrial seaport of Le Havre. One rainy night, as he is preparing dinner in the reception office, Dom meets Fiona, an unusual new guest at the hotel. Arriving without any shoes or luggage, Fiona tells Dom that she is a fairy, and that she can grant him three wishes. Dom doesn't believe her, but gives her a room anyway. After Fiona saves Dom from choking on his dinner, she grants two of his wishes to prove she is really a fairy.

The next day, Fiona asks Dom to have drinks with her that evening at the bar. After a magical evening, Dom awakes to find Fiona gone. He searches for everywhere for her. Dom finally discovers that Fiona has been committed to a psychiatric hospital. He must pose as a relative of one of the patients in order to gain entry. He finds Fiona, sedated with drugs, and smuggles her out of the hospital by hiding her under his coat. While resting on the roof of the hotel, Fiona gives birth to a boy. Meanwhile, the police have begun to suspect that Dom is hiding a group of illegal immigrants in the hotel.
An English guest staying at the hotel agrees to help them reach the ferry to England, in exchange for returning his lost dog. However, the police give chase, and Dom and Fiona must avoid being caught.

Frantic to escape, Dom and Fiona purchase a caravan from the local bartender, and, with their baby, travel to the countryside where the caravan is kept. They are accompanied by the English man and the immigrants.
Unfortunately, just before leaving, Dom and Fiona put the baby on the back of the English man's car, which pulls off before they realize their mistake. This gives way to another chase, ending with the police placing them all under arrest, except for the illegal immigrants hidden in the car. Dom and Fiona serve time in prison, but at the end, are set free. They emerge from their respective cells and return to their fantastic, freewheeling and incredible life.
