The AM Trio
Alyssa Murray is a jazz pianist, vocalist and songwriter currently residing in the musical mecca of Kansas City, MO.
With her original work she aims to combine jazz with the narrative elements of contemporary folk. The AM Trio's June 2015 release "As of Now" reflects that mission and showcases her unique compositional style and keen lyrical sense. Both Joel Stratton (bass) and Joshua Blythe (drums) bring an abundant amount of collaborative and creative energy to Murray's tunes. Recent performance highlights include the recordBar with Marbin and Seedlove as well as the Coda with Shades of Jade and Brian Ruskin.
As a freelance pianist, Alyssa can be seen performing at the most well-known jazz clubs and restaurants throughout the city including the Blue Room, Broadway Jazz Club and Chaz at the Raphael.
In addition to performing, she also accompanies classes for the Kansas City Ballet and teaches both piano lessons and group classes at Music House School of Music.
Alyssa has a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and has studied under the direction of Bobby Watson and Dan Thomas; as well as classical repertoire with Karen Kushner and Diane Petrella.
