The Civil War
In commemoration of the national celebration of the 150th anniversary of the end to the most turbulent war of our nation, Purple Door Productions, in partnership with the Robeson Community College Foundation, presents the brilliant musical drama, THE CIVIL WAR. Using diary entries, family documents, battlefield reports and soldiers' letters to create the songs and scenes, this amazing event covers the 5 years of the war, from the personal perspective of the people who fought, lived and endured. Using the words of Walt Whitman, Fredrick Douglas, Sojourner Truth and President Lincoln, enhanced by a wall of video and accurate period photos, this is a moving living History lesson that reveals the endurance of the soldiers, families and slaves whose sacrifices forged a new nation from a terrible war.
