Bronx Concert Singers: A Night at the Opera
Join The Bronx Concert Singers (BCS) and music director Robert René Galván on Sunday, May 6, at 4:30 pm for their 31st Annual Spring Concert: A Night at the Opera, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1891 McGraw Avenue, in Parkchester, Bronx, NY. The program features the BCS concert choir, with professional soloists and chamber ensemble.

BCS' A Night at the Opera explores the art of theatrical music through arias, choruses and opera scenes.  The concert features music ranging from the sublime "Au fond du temple saint," from Georges Bizet's The Pearl Fishers, to the deeply moving "Vissi d'arte," from Giacomo Puccini's Tosca, and favorites such as the "Habanera," from Bizet's Carmen.  The afternoon also includes the music of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, Giuseppe Verdi's Un ballo in maschera, and much more.  The program presents both original works from opera and musical theater as well as arrangements for chorus and instrumentalists.

Tickets are available in advance and at the door from BCS:  General admission is $20 / two for $35, seniors and students with valid ID, $15 and children through high school, $5.  Tickets may also be charged through Brown Paper Tickets by phone at 1-800-838-3006, or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/237772 .

This concert is made possible with public funds from the Bronx Council on the Arts through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, and through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Greater New York Arts Development Fund Regrants Program, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., the Bronx Delegation of the City Council, and the support of local businesses, organizations and individuals who appreciate the arts.

The Bronx Concert Singers is a nonprofit volunteer concert choir founded in the Parkchester section of the Bronx by people from all walks of life who love singing great choral music.  The chorus presents classical music concerts with either professional orchestra or chamber ensemble and has been a source of cultural enrichment in the community since 1981.  BCS is the chorus-in-residence at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
