THIS and THAT with Graham Haynes
Graham Haynes with THIS and THAT...
THIS and THAT is an on-going series led by Graham Haynes and featuring guest musicians and neighborhood art.
Children and families are especially welcome...
$15 suggested per person $25 suggested per family/couple
coffee, tea and light snacks are served brunchstyle...
There are some small art activities for the children as well as the yard to play in (weather permitting). The food is (mostly) vegan with some vegetarian choices (no meat). We feature special desserts from our neighborhood which is filled with delicious pastry shops of every kind. The salads, vegetables and fruits are fresh from the farmer's market that morning. Always a variety of herbal and strong teas or coffees and specialty drinks.
'Graham Haynes is regarded as an innovator on cornet and flugel horn, an extraordinary composer, and an emerging force in contemporary electronic music and world music. Haynes has redefined and deconstructed that genre we still call jazz. Haynes used technology (and the African Dousngoni) to create imaginative, subtle sonic environments providing a level of expression that humanizes and elevates the synthetic sounds.' [All About Jazz]
This is a small, cozy space in the middle of Carroll Gardens, a vibrant South Brooklyn neighborhood where the old world meets industrial meets the new Brooklyn.
It is a rare opportunity to see a master musician in such an intimate setting.
Brooklyn Workshop Gallery is a semi-collective atelier space dedicated to the celebration of cultural expressions, transparency in our processes, the sharing of our philosophies and a welcome to others with creative ideas. BWG is home to Workshop Gallery Artists Foundation, a non-profit foundation whose purpose is to promote and facilitate the process of keeping traditional art craft alive and vibrant in our world and to encourage the interpretation and expression of such through the individual artisan.
